The Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP) has unveiled the results of the public consultation following the filing of the project notice by Onimiki Renewable Energy.
The consultation, which ran from July 2 to August 1, 2024, gave the public an opportunity to comment on the issues that the impact study should address.
This is one of the first steps in the environmental assessment process. Onimiki Renewable Energy is continuing work to document all aspects of the project in order to draft the impact study, currently scheduled for submission in the summer of 2025.
The next steps in Onimiki Renewable Energy’s information and consultation process are currently being developed. Further details will be provided in the coming months.
The filing of a new project notice was made necessary by significant changes to the concept previously presented.
The compilation of issues prepared by the MELCCFP can be consulted on the project page of the Registre des évaluations environnementales (REE) (french only).
* The previous project notice for the Onimiki 1 and 2 mini hydroelectric power plant project is still available in the Registre des évaluations environnementales. The MELCCFP is required to keep these documents public. It is therefore important to consult the Onimiki North and South project page, the new version of the project, and not the Onimiki 1 and 2 project page, the previous version of the project.
