Another year has come to an end. 2026 is shaping up to be a busy one for the Onimiki Renewable Energy team.
In 2025, the information and consultation process intensified with the holding of some fifteen public and targeted activities in the form of public information meetings.
Means of communication were deployed to provide the local population with the necessary information about the project:
- Distribution of an information brochure to all residences in Témiscamingue;
- Radio chronicles on CKVM-FM and Drumbeat Radio;
- Articles on our website and various platforms.
The work carried out by teams of experts in the field continued in order to gather the data needed for environmental analyses, preliminary engineering and the drafting of the environmental impact study.
Interventions to promote the community energy model chosen for the Onimiki project were also carried out during the Vision Énergie tour and during the consultation on the Quebec government’s Integrated Energy Resource Management Plan (Plan de gestion intégrée des ressources énergétiques).
The project is taking shape
Onimiki Renewable Energy takes into account the comments made during the information and consultation process to improve its project so that it is adapted to its host environment. Environmental studies also greatly influence the project development process.
New information and consultation activities are planned to provide an update on the project evaluation and development process and to address questions and concerns raised to date. The schedule of meetings will be announced in the coming weeks.
The environmental impact study is expected to be submitted in mid-2026. Specialists from the ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (Department of Environment, Climate Change, Wildlife, and Parks) will analyze it as part of the regulatory process.
Onimiki Renewable Energy is committed to actively participating in the project evaluation and approval process.
