Meetings to inform and exchange with the community

Langue/Language : FR

The Onimiki Renewable Energy team would like to thank everyone who took part in the information and consultation meetings held from March 17 to 20., 2025.

Meetings open to all were held in Témiscaming and Lorrainville. Meetings were also held for members of the Wolf Lake First Nation and Kebaowek First Nation communities. Finally, a webinar for entrepreneurs was organized by the Société de développement du Témiscamingue and the Chambre de commerce Témis-Accord.

“These meetings enabled us to share more information about the project, answer people’s questions, hear their concerns and get their feedback on the project. We would like to thank all those who took the time to come and meet us by participating in the information and consultation process. We are still in the project development phase. These discussions will help us improve the project and will be very useful in drafting our impact study. Onimiki Renewable Energy is committed to maintaining dialogue over the coming months to develop a project in consultation with the community,” said David McLaren, President of Onimiki Renewable Energy.

In keeping with our commitment, the presentation screened at the meeting is now available.

Main feedbacks

Among the main issues and topics of interest addressed by the community are :

  • impacts of the project on Kipawa lake and Kipawa river and water level management;
  • rigorous assessment of all environmental impacts, particularly on water quality, wildlife and soil, and sharing of this information with the community;
  • the compatibility of the project with Parc national d’Opémican;
  • the investments required and the maximization of local economic benefits during construction and operation;
  • the justification of the project from the point of view of the community partners.

Transfert Environnement et Société was commissioned to produce a report for each meeting. All feedback will be collated. Reports are now available in our documentation center.
