The second Participatory Thematic Workshop was held on June 9. The theme of the workshop was “Flows, uses, and environmental assessments of the Kipawa River sector”. Participants learned more about these issues, asked questions, and shared their concerns.
CIMA+ experts were on hand to share information and answer questions. Transfert Environnement et Société led the meeting and the participative component.
The following topics caught the attention of participants:
- Minimum flow required for the Kipawa River;
- Ongoing studies and environmental impact assessment processes;
- Concerns about impacts on wetlands and water bodies in relation to lake levels;
- Concerns about possible changes in water temperature and their effects on fishing;
- Effects of the project on changes in the flow rate of the Grande chute given its importance as a major tourist attraction for the region;
- Models and methods used to identify fish species.

Onimiki Renewable Energy thanks all participants. The discussions will help to further document certain aspects, provide answers to questions and contribute to the environmental impact study, which is scheduled to be submitted in late 2025 or early 2026.
