Onimiki Renewable Energy is continuing the assessment of its hydroelectric power plant project in Témiscamingue. The project team is currently evaluating two potential sites for the Onimiki power plant.
The plant would be located approximately 30 kilometers north of the City of Témiscaming and 15 kilometers southwest of Laniel (in the Pointe McMartin area), on the shores of Lake Témiscamingue.
Option A was presented at various information and consultation meetings held over the past two years. Stakeholders raised issues and concerns regarding its integration into the surrounding environment.
To address these concerns, Option B is now under consideration. Located approximately one kilometer downstream from Option A, this alternative could allow for better integration into the environment by minimizing visual and noise impacts, both during construction and during the operational phase.
Further environmental assessments and discussions with the relevant individuals and organizations will be required to properly assess the feasibility of Option B. A decision on the selected site will be made in the coming months.
