Hydroelectricity is a stable and reliable source of renewable energy that accounts for 60% of the energy produced in Canada.
In its press release, Waterpower Canada emphasizes that “increasingly, projects are being developed and co-owned with Indigenous communities, advancing reconciliation, creating local employment and ensuring shared benefits for generations to come.”
The Onimiki project is 100% community-based and aims to use the energy potential of Lake Kipawa. The project is currently in the evaluation phase. The partners‘ goal is to propose a project that is well suited to the environment.
