Daniel Bernard, deputy of Rouyn-Noranda at Assemblée nationale, maintains that the hydroelectric project led by Onimiki Renewable Energy is one of his priorities.
In an interview with Radio-Canada, he said that important issues for the Témiscamingue region would continue to move forward despite the departure of Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Energy (ministre de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie). He had the opportunity to meet Christine Fréchette, who is succeeding Pierre Fitzgibbon at the head of this ministry, to make sure of this.
Daniel Bernard says he has been assured that the Onimiki project remains a priority. He also emphasized that the energy produced by the mini-hydro plants would be part of the supply strategy of the Quebec government and Hydro-Québec.
The deputy have begun studying Bill 69 on energy. Daniel Bernard is taking part as an deputy and government assistant to the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry (ministre des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts). He also reminds us that access to energy for regional businesses and stimulating economic development is a priority for Témiscamingue.
