TÉMISCAMING, MARCH 14, 2024 – Onimiki Renewable Energy L.P. will hold a series of public information meetings from March 19 to 21, 2024, to provide an update on its hydroelectric power project in Témiscamingue.
A number of local citizens and organizations took part in a series of public information and consultation meetings in the summer and fall of 2022, where many questions and comments were taken into account. Comments were also received following publication of the project notice in May 2023 in the environmental assessment register of the Ministry of the Environment, the Fight against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks.
“The past few months have been quite busy, as we wanted to propose a project that would meet the community’s expectations and be in line with our values of responsible development. We are convinced that we are proposing a promising project that will benefit the First Nations and all the citizens of the MRC de Témiscamingue,” emphasizes David McLaren, President of Onimiki Renewable Energy L.P.
Three public information meetings will be organized for members of Kebaowek First Nation, Wolf Lake First Nation and citizens of the Témiscamingue MRC territory. Targeted meetings with organizations that participated in the information and consultation process are also planned.
