The Onimiki Renewable Energy team gave a presentation on its project to Laniel residents on June 7. Those in attendance had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the project.
The Onimiki Renewable Energy team was accompanied by an independent expert from CIMA+ to answer specific questions related to environmental assessments.
The meeting was moderated by the Transfert Environnement et Société team. A report in French and English was drafted following the meeting.
Among the questions and issues addressed were the following:
- project’s impact on the fauna, flora and water quality of the Kipawa River and Lake Kipawa.
- involvement and interest of Indigenous communities in the project.
- regulatory process for environmental impact assessments
- project’s impact on the flow of the Kipawa River.
Onimiki Renewable Energy thanks all participants. The discussions will help to further document certain aspects, provide answers to questions and contribute to the environmental impact study, which is scheduled to be submitted in late 2025 or early 2026.
The report and documents from the meeting are available in the documentation center.
